Crumbl Cookies, a brand that has taken the nation by storm since its founding in 2017, has officially opened a store in Ames.
The cookie company, which now boasts over 500 stores nationally, has become one of the fastest growing sensations among bakery-style chains. Ames is the now the latest town to welcome a location of its own.
The new store, located at 414 South Duff Avenue, Suite #104, first welcomed Story County customers during a soft opening Thursday. According to General Manager Dionne Estes-Vennard, a grand opening is being held Friday and Saturday.
Estes-Vennard touted the store’s central location during an interview with StoryCounty.News. She also highlighted Crumbl’s attention to customer satisfaction, which she intends to reflect on the local level. “Crumbl is very big on quality,” she said. “If [a cookie] is not to the standard of what we serve, then we throw it away or donate it. We want perfect cookies.”
For those new to an experience at Crumbl, Estes-Vennard described the uniqueness of the store’s approach to such cookie quality. “One of the things that makes Crumbl unique is that everything here is made from scratch,” she explained. “We source high-quality ingredients and work with a number of different brands.”

As an example of the wide variety of options, Crumbl is currently featuring a Banana Cream Pie cookie and, in the past, has offered a cookie made with real Fruity Pebbles cereal. “Our menu rotates every week,” Estes-Vennard said. “That’s unique to a lot of places. Most bakeries have a few cookies and a couple donuts.” The store also uses its own whipped cream for each cookie batch.
The owners of the Ames store recently opened a location in Ankeny and will soon be launching a store in West Des Moines. Estes-Vennard described the interior of the Ames store as “simplistic, modern, and cheery.”

Patrons are encouraged to order in-store during this week’s grand opening. Moving forward, customers will be able to order online or through the Crumbl Cookies app. Even during busy hours, long wait times at Crumbl are considered rare. “That’s one of the things that makes Crumbl unique, too,” Estes-Vennard added. “[At some places], you have to order 24 to 48 hours in advance. Our window of availability is very short, within less than three minutes.”
The South Duff Avenue store, which is located to the west of Target and next-door to PepperJax Grill, will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, extended business hours will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. The store is closed on Sundays.
