Elderly man struck, killed by train in Nevada, police say

A pedestrian died Wednesday evening after being struck by a train in Nevada, according to the Nevada Police Department.

Officers responded to the intersection of Eight Street and N Avenue at approximately 5:04 p.m. Wednesday following reports of a person hit by a train. 

Nevada Police Chief Chris Brandes told StoryCounty.News that the individual was deceased at the scene.

The victim, an adult white male approximately 70 years old, was on foot when he was hit, according to Brandes. Police believe the man was walking along the tracks and that no outside factors contributed to the incident. 

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. 

The Nevada Police Department is investigating the incident. No additional information is available at this time.
