Authorities in Ames have released the identity of a man who was killed over the weekend inside an apartment residence.
According to Ames Police Major Jason Tuttle, the victim has been identified as 25-year-old Parker L. Stoneburner of Boone.
Officers and first responders were dispatched to a South Fifth Street apartment at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a press release. Upon arrival, a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was located. The injured man, now identified as Stoneburner, was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Stoneburner’s body has since been transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Officer for an autopsy, per Tuttle.
Authorities stated Saturday evening that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
The incident remains under investigation. In an updated release, Tuttle stated that “tips received continue to be reviewed by investigators.” Ames PD is also requesting that residents in the area review home doorbell or surveillance footage for any suspicious activity that may have taken place between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
