BREAKING NEWS: Second west Ames shooting in less than a month leaves male hospitalized

Investigators in Ames are looking for leads after an individual was shot Thursday evening.

According to Ames Police Commander Dan Walter, authorities responded to the 3800 block of Tripp Street at approximately 9:04 p.m. Thursday on a report of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a male who had been shot.

The victim, who is currently not being identified, was reportedly transported to an area hospital. His current condition is unknown.

The Ames Police Department is investigating the incident. However, Walter noted that the shooting is believed to have been an isolated incident.

Thursday’s incident is the second such shooting reported in the 3800 block of Tripp Street in less than a month.
