Woman arrested after Ames break-in near Campustown

A woman has been criminally charged after allegedly breaking into and trashing an Ames apartment.

According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, 44-year-old Mandie Ann Eiffler is currently in custody, where she faces one count of Second-Degree Burglary and one count of Fourth-Degree Criminal Mischief.

Christian told StoryCounty.News that the alleged break-in occurred at an apartment located at 232 Welch Avenue near Campustown in Ames. According to a criminal complaint, the Ames Police Department received a report at approximately 2:45 a.m. on April 25 regarding a burglary.

The police report indicates that two residents in the home, the reporting party and the reporting party’s significant other, woke up to the sound of Eiffler breaking into the apartment. Eiffler reportedly entered through a kitchen door by smashing out the window. She is also accused of breaking down the bedroom door, at which point the residents of the home were able to identify her.

In addition, the complaint states that Eiffler “flipped over various furniture in the [home], poured liquids onto the kitchen floor,” and damaged an additional door.

Christian added that another witness who lives in the same building and knows Eiffler saw her flee the scene in a dark SUV.
