Police: One injured after minivan rams Casey’s store in Ames

Authorities in Ames say one individual was hurt in an incident involving a vehicle ramming a convenience store earlier this week.

The collision reportedly occurred late Wednesday morning. According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, the driver of a blue Dodge Grand Caravan reported that his foot accidentally slipped off the brake pedal and onto the accelerator, leading to the crash. The van broke through the front doors of Casey’s, located at 428 Lincoln Way, coming to rest with the nose of the vehicle just inside the store.

Christian told StoryCounty.News that one passenger in the minivan was injured due to the accident. The injured party was taken by ambulance to Mary Greeley Medical center for treatment. The injury was non-life threatening. No one inside the store was hurt, according to Christian.

No official report of total estimated damage as a result of the incident has been provided to police, as of Friday afternoon. However, a new set of doors has already been installed at the store.
