An Ames man has been arrested following an alleged incident that ended with gunshots being fired inside a home Wednesday morning.
According to Ames Police Commander Dan Walter, authorities were notified of the shooting at 8:06 a.m. Wednesday. “The victim came to the Ames Police Department,” he noted. “He actually ran or walked here to report it in our lobby.”
Officers interviewed the 39-year-old victim, who stated that his father, 69-year-old Major Robinson of Ames, had fired two or three bullets at him following an argument over loud music, per an Ames PD release.
According to the release, officers responded to the scene, a home located at 624 Duff Avenue, and located Robinson, who was compliant with the investigation. A search warrant was executed, leading investigators to recover a firearm, bullets, and bullet fragments inside the home.
Robinson told responding officers that there was a “physical altercation” that occurred prior to the shooting, according to Walter.
Robinson was subsequently placed under arrest and faces the following criminal charges:
- Attempted Murder, a class “B” felony
- Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor
Online records indicate that Robinson is being held at the Story County Jail without bond.
