A man is wanted after an alleged assault that occurred inside Mary Greeley Medical Center’s emergency room department Monday evening.
According to Ames Police Commander Dan Walter, the seemingly random act occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. inside the ER lobby. “The individual came in, walked up to the counter, called the nurse a name, and then struck [a nurse] on the shoulder,” he explained. “He then threw everything off the counter and ran out.”
The male, who was wearing a facemask and hooded jacket at the time of the assault, according to video surveillance, fled the property following the incident, leaving those who were at the counter bewildered. “It happened very, very quickly,” Walter acknowledged. “I think it caught them all off-guard. So, we really don’t have much of a description.
The male subject is said to have left the area southbound.

The Ames Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man seen on the above surveillance shot. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 515-239-5133.
