A motorcyclist has died following a crash in north Ames on Sunday, police say.
According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, “a single-vehicle motorcycle fatality” occurred around 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
Christian told StoryCounty.News that the Ames Police Department temporarily closed east and westbound lanes on Bloomington Road near Fletcher Boulevard and Top-O-Hollow Road following the accident.
There were no witnesses to the incident, according to Christian.
Ames PD is not currently releasing the name of the deceased. “We just want to give the family a little more time,” Christian explained. “It’s just a sad deal anytime we have a fatality.”
Christian added that there were no skid marks or “additional factors” discovered during the accident investigation.
