A Marshalltown school teacher, who also happened to be a resident of Nevada, has been found dead less than two days after he was arrested on a charge of felony exploitation.
According to Story County Sheriff’s Office Captain Nicholas Lennie, officials were contacted late Thursday evening concerning the welfare of an adult male.
After responding to the request, an investigation ensued into the whereabouts of 42-year-old Adam Edgington of Nevada. The Nevada Police Department and the sheriff’s department continued the search for Edgington through the night and into Friday morning.

Lennie stated that officials were led to a location approximately two miles southwest of Nevada this morning. A drone team helped to locate a vehicle that was situated “several hundred feet” off the roadway near a creek. Officers discovered a deceased male, later identified as Edgington. Investigators believe the death to be a suicide by firearm, according to Lennie.
Edgington’s death comes just days after he was arrested on accusations of inappropriate conduct between himself and a 13-year-old juvenile, who was a student in the Marshalltown School District. Edgington had been a Language Arts teacher at Miller Middle School, per the district’s website.
According to a Marshalltown Police Department press release, Edgington had been released shortly after his Wednesday arrest. He was scheduled for an initial court appearance next Monday.
