An individual is now hospitalized after a vehicle struck a motorcyclist in front of Menards in Ames.
According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, the accident was reported at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday. Christian stated that the motorcyclist was driving in the 700 block of Southeast 16th Street when a vehicle pulled out from the Menards parking lot, striking the motorcycle.
The injured male motorcyclist was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. His condition is currently unknown. The Ames Police Department is withholding the names of the individuals involved in the accident until the family of the injured can be notified.
A portion of Southeast 16th Street remained closed down late Tuesday evening as officials dealt with the aftermath of the wreck. Iowa State Patrol is assisting with the accident investigation, according to Christian.
