BREAKING NEWS: Theisen’s of Ames burglarized, guns stolen

Officials say Theisen’s Home Farm Auto of Ames was broken into and burglarized early Tuesday morning.

According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, authorities were alerted to the front store motion alarm being activated at Theisen’s, located at 1315 South Dayton Avenue, at approximately 5:07 a.m. Tuesday. The call was sent by Per Mar Security, a large Midwest-based security company.

The Ames Police Department responded to the east Ames storefront, where officers discovered that the entrance doors had been smashed. According to a press release, access was gained into the store and an “undisclosed number of firearms” were taken.

Christian told StoryCounty.News that investigators are still looking at security video footage, but no assailant description is currently being released to the public. “[Investigators] are also trying to track surveillance from outside the store, and we had to issue subpoenas for some local businesses, so that’s a process,” she explained. “We’re working at locating where [the assailants] came from, if they had a vehicle, and direction of travel. We’re utilizing as many officers as we can right now.”

Ames PD is asking that anyone with information regarding the incident call investigators at 515-239-5133. Anonymous tips can be made by calling 515-239-5533 or online at www.crimestoppersofcentraliowa.com.
