BREAKING NEWS: Male stabbed in west Ames; investigation underway

Police in Ames are investigation a stabbing that occurred early Saturday afternoon in west Ames.

According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, authorities responded to the scene in the 1100 block of Delaware Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. Officers located one male victim who was injured as a result of the incident.

Just after 2:00 p.m., StoryCounty.News was alerted to the crime scene by a passerby who observed crime scene tape and multiple Ames Police Department units blocking the area. The general area where the alleged stabbing took place is in the vicinity of a number of apartment buildings.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. His status is currently unknown.

No suspect has been named by Ames PD. However, according to a press release, investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
