Two individuals trespassed from Ames aquatic center following alleged gun threat

Two individuals have been banned from the Furman Aquatic Center in Ames following an alleged gun threat.

According to Ames Police Sergeant Amber Christian, officers responded to the city’s aquatic center, located at 1635 13th Street, at approximately 6:47 p.m. Thursday. Staff reported that a patron inside the park “was being threatened by two individuals outside the fence said to have a gun.”

A press release stated that Furman staff ushered patrons to the nearby locker rooms until the area was deemed safe by the Ames Police Department.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the individuals accused of making threats were not in possession of any firearms, according to the release. The suspects were issued no trespass orders, banning them from the property for one year.
