BREAKING NEWS: Another shooting occurs on Tripp Street in west Ames

Police in Ames are investigating another shooting on Tripp Street, an area hit with several violent crimes in the last year.

According to Ames Police Seargent Amber Christian, authorities were made aware of the incident at approximately 2:58 a.m. Tuesday. A press release stated that a gunshot victim arrived at Mary Greeley Medical Center. The individual was reportedly suffering from “non-life threatening” injuries as a result of the incident.

Authorities believe the shooting occurred in the 3900 block of Tripp Street in west Ames, according to the release.

The Ames Police Department continues to investigate the incident. However, police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public, per the release.

Tuesday morning’s shooting is yet another violent crime to have allegedly occurred in the same general area of west Ames over the past year. In August, an individual was left hospitalized following alleged gunfire in the 3800 block of Tripp Street.

Less than one month later, another shooting in the 3800 block of Tripp Street sent a male to the hospital. Ames PD stated at the time that it believed the incident to be “isolated”. A Boone man was later arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in connection to the shooting.

In November, an Ames woman was criminally charged after allegedly stabbing her father in his back as he was walking away from her. The stabbing is said to have occurred in the 3800 block of Tripp Street.
