Investigators are searching for a suspect who they believe stabbed three people in west Ames on Friday.
According to an Ames Police Department spokesperson, authorities were called to the 3700 block of Tripp Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday on a report of multiple stabbings.
Authorities discovered “a crime scene” in the street during the response, per a press release. Two victims were also located “away from the scene,” both of whom were transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center for care. A third victim reportedly traveled by private vehicle to the same hospital.
Police say they believe the incident was “isolated” in nature and that there is “no ongoing threat” to the community. According to an updated press release, investigators have been led to think that all parties involved in the incident knew each other. However, the suspect remains at large.
One of the victims was later transferred to MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines for further treatment. The conditions of all three victims have not been released.
The crime continues to remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Ames PD at 515-239-5133 or anonymously at 515-239-5533.
